Drug Discovery
Sophic’s Pharmaceutical Drug Discovery configuration of BioXM was developed for a large pharmaceutical company. BioXM linguistic capability is used to mine large Word or PDF free text memo files archived compound information and integrate the results with internal and external drug safety and toxicity databases such as Toxnet. Visibility into failed compounds provides decision support for assessing drug safety and toxicity of compounds in the active compound portfolio. This configuration finds relationships between memo documents, patient histopathology information, drug safety study, toxicity study, pharmacokinetics study, and information from drugs (compounds) with similar substructure, to guide and facilitate the drug discovery process. The BioXM image shows an integrated knowledge map for a (de-identified) candidate drug, with clinical trial, safety and toxicity study, similar drugs information, biological pathway etc.
