Biomax BioXM™
Knowledge Management Environment

BioXM is an "agnostic" system built to support and integrate information from a wide range of scientific and biomedical sources. The resulting Knowledge Management Environment connects research results from proteomics and genomics, to biomedical research in translational medicine, pathology, oncology and epidemiology. Doctors treating patients will now have the latest and most accurate information available to support their diagnosis and treatment of patients.

BioXM, a UNIX-based system, is scalable and serves as a central repository of scientific and biomedical knowledge, while simultaneously providing a project-centric, distributed, client/server, virtual research community within a flexible, collaborative environment.

  • Is configurable to support a wide range of scientific and medical research areas.
  • Connects and shows complex networks of relationships between scientific and medical semantic objects, such as patients, diseases, treatments, compounds, and genes.
  • Integrates information from different sources (such as local, remote, private and public databases) into a single Knowledge Repository supporting collaborative, virtual research teams.
  • Allows researchers to "model" their hypotheses, annotate results and observations, capture and generate new knowledge within a single system.
  • Offers powerful project, resource and user management, as well as configurable annotation and reporting for effective collaboration and information sharing.
  • Provides powerful, speedy query mechanisms embedded within a single environment, resembling a natural query interface with any data of interest.
  • Delivers a simple, intuitive, easy-to-use graphical user interface (Java based GUI) that reduces the implementation and user adoption of the system.
  • Is a UNIX client/server-based system.

BioXM can be licensed as a stand-alone system or provided with the additional technology modules, BioRS and BioLT, which are used to access databases and text files. In addition, the Oncology Knowledge Base can add high quality, manually annotated content, providing a central reference for cancer research information.
